Top destinations of central India

Central India namely the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are one of the most overlooked tourist destinations mostly because the rest of the States get all the attention. These states are not just the most visited places by Indians but they also have many beautiful and unexplored places where foreign nationals can have a great time. Here we will discuss some of the places which will make up for great Same Day Tours and can they be added to any tour that you decide to pick up in India according to your convenience.

Varanasi
Varanasi or like the Indian people like to call it ‘city of temples’ is one of the holiest places and also one of the most popular tourist attractions in India. Situated on the bank of the river Ganga, it is the religious capital of the country. Millions flock over each day to get a view of the temples at the ghat of Ganga and dip themselves into its holy waters. Also, it is one of the best places if you like to explore the country spiritually and for experiencing a yoga holiday. India Tour Packages can also have you stay at an ashram for the purpose of this. its top destination is Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and the idol worshipped is Jyotirling, one of the 12 Jyotirlinga in India.

Fatehpur Sikri
Fatehpur Sikri, or the City of Victory, was the Mughal emperor Akbar’s dream project. The story behind the capital that was once a little village is that it was the home of the Sufi saint Salim Chisti who lived in a cavern here. Legend has it that Akbar visited him in the 16th century to seek his blessings for a male heir, and voila he had one with his favourite queen, right here in his beloved capital. Places to visit in this abandoned city are the Buland Darwaza gate, which is the entrance to Jama Masjid mosque. Nearby is the marble Tomb of Salim Chishti. Diwan-E-Khas hall has a carved central pillar.

Khajuraho
This is an offbeat destination which is popular for its group of artistic temples which were built by the Chandela rulers between the 10th and 12th Century. Chandela rulers were the great patrons of art and this is the reason that the Khajuraho group of temples is known for its sculptural wealth. An interesting fact about the khajuraho group of temples that many people do not know is that although they were built together, they are dedicated to different religions Hinduism and Jainism. They are living proof of acceptance and respect for diverse religious views and traditional settings in the central region of India. In your North India Tours you cannot miss the Vishwanath Temple which is famous temple in Khajuraho, known for its beautiful carved structure of Shivling and idol of Lord Brahma.

Gwalior
Gwalior has lots of stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage to look forward to. Best known for its imposing hilltop fort, which was famously described as ‘the pearl amongst fortresses in India’, there are a range of other things you can visit here, like the Maharaj Bada, Sun Temple, Tombs and Scindia Palace. Also known for its temples, including the Sas Bahu Ka Mandir intricately carved Hindu temple, ancient Gwalior Fort occupies a sandstone plateau overlooking the city. Gwalior also prides itself in being the home to legendary musicians like Tansen and Baiju Bawra whose classical Indian music has had ancient kings in awe.
